The Manitowoc Common Council approved the purchase of the CN Peninsula property at their monthly meeting earlier this week.

Initial talks began more than a decade ago about purchasing this piece of real estate that Nickels says will benefit the community “for a hundred years to come.”

The purchase price was $800 thousand and the city received a local government exemption for immediate cleanup meaning it’s not necessary until development takes place on the site.
