Madison police say a woman they call a “prolific shoplifter” was carrying an armload of clothes to a van outside East Towne Mall when she was arrested. Fifty-two-year-old Marilyn P. Simmons was taken into custody at about 6:00 P-M Monday. The stolen clothes were worth about 650-dollars. Police arrested Simmons on a tentative charge of felony retail theft. The driver of the van, 54-year-old Robert L. Baker, has been banned from the mall, so he was cited for trespassing.
