The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens of the latest scam making the rounds. According to Lt. Jason Jost, someone will call your phone with an automated message saying, “This is a call from the Social Security Administration. Your social security number has been suspended due to some reasons. To get more information you can call us back on (325) 200-4296.” Do not call this number back, as they are just trying to take your money. If you have already returned the call, be sure to contact your financial institution, and a national credit reporting agency fraud unit. Educational information regarding identity theft can be found on the Federal Trade Commission Website.
