After winning this weekend’s Badger State Spelling Bee a Fitchburg fifth grader will head to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D-C this May. Maya Jadhav from Eagle School successfully spelled ‘lapilli’ to take the Badger title to earn her second straight trip to the national bee. She will be joined by the second place finisher Immanuel Goveas, a 6th grader from Menomonee Falls Middle School and Richfield Middle School 8th grader Aryan Kalluvila. Organizers say once they go national, Wisconsin spellers usually succeed.
