Flooding caused by the rapid snow melt and recent rains is closing roads and forcing evacuations in southern Wisconsin. Chunks of ice bottle-necked at bridges in Fond du Lac is causing the river to overflow and flood the city. Up to 300 people were evacuated from an apartment complex, Y-M-C-A and local homes. Heavy equipment was being used to remove ice from the Fond du Lac River. A shelter is being set up a the Community Church. The Spring Creek in Lodi reached historic flood stage this morning as the snow cover melts away. Around two dozen highways remain closed in south-central Wisconsin. The National Weather Service says colder air moving in should drop temperatures back into the 30s on Friday.
