Everyone that was living in an apartment complex in Appleton are now searching for a new place to stay following a fire. Appleton fire crews responded to the complex on the 1500 block of Schaefer Circle at around 6:30 Friday evening. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames billowing from a second floor apartment, and several occupants trapped on the second floor. The blaze was brought under control in around 10 minutes by fire crews, and the trapped residents were rescued by using ladders. While the fire was contained to one apartment, the entire second floor sustained heavy smoke damage. There were not any injuries reported, and the Red Cross is aiding the residents. The cause the fire is still under investigation.
