The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the shooting of a bald eagle near Mishicot has increased to $2800.
Secretary of the Manitowoc County Fish and Game Protective Association Dean Halverson tells Seehafer News that the Manitowoc Unit pledged $500 at it’s March meeting while the Manitowoc Gun Club along with Mishicot and Larabee pledged $100 each towards the reward. Previous contributions of $1000 apiece came from The Manitowoc County Fish and Game Protective Association and Don Kiel in memory of his late father-in-law Andy Endries.
Private landowners called in the initial report December 7th of an injured bird off-of Randolph Street. The eagle flew away and was spotted the next day at a nearby property and was Rescued by Wildlife of Wisconsin. The eagle was then taken to a nearby Manitowoc Facility for treatment where it died from its injuries. An examination determined the bird sustained injuries consistent with being shot and may have been feeding at one of the nearby rivers prior to being shot. Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation must call Crime Stoppers at 683-446 to eligible for the cash reward.
