About a dozen people who used to work at a closed Milwaukee nursing home say they are not only out of a job, they’re still waiting for their final paychecks. The group rallied outside the former location of Wellspring of Milwaukee Thursday. The nursing home closed its doors with no warning last week, leaving 160 employees without a job. A sign posted on the front door says those paychecks will be mailed as soon as possible. When Wellspring filed its intention to close with the state, it agreed to pay all earned wages and benefits.
