A huge honor recently for retired Roncalli High School Tennis Coach Bob Nelson. The longtime Manitowoc resident was inducted into the Wisconsin High School Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame at a banquet in Middleton. Nelson tells Seehafer News….
What made it extra special for Bob Nelson was having his longtime friend & fellow Manitowoc coach, Bob Feller, introduce him Hall of Fame night.
Nelson, who stepped down as Jets boys coach last Spring after 39-years, says he “always told his players that you win with class and you lose with dignity.” He also said he loved coaching but also loves his wife, Pat, who has battled cancer over the years. Bob’s immediate plans are for him and his brother, from Chicago, to play some golf in Florida while visiting their Mom. Summer plans are for him and Pat to tour some national parks, now that he’s no longer coaching. Nelson feels confident that the Roncalli program is in good hands with new Coach Amanda Kudick and volunteer assistant Steve Mirsberger.
