A house fire in the city of Two Rivers Sunday morning caused an estimated $25,000 in damage but, no injuries. Captain Eric Isselmann says Two Rivers firefighters were sent to the report of a kitchen fire at 1021 17th Street, just after 9:30am. The owner & occupant, Allen Close, used an extinguisher on the blaze and believed it was out…but evacuated the residence due to a large amount of smoke. The fire started in the first floor kitchen area resulting in a total loss to the room along with smoke and water damage to other areas of the structure. A fire department crew extinguished the flames and conducted salvage & overhaul, looking for extension to hidden spaces. Two pets, a dog and cat, were also in the house at the time of the fire, which remains under investigation. Fire department personnel were on scene for about an hour and forty-five minutes.
