Winter weather just doesn’t seem to want to leave us alone this year. With every snowfall, the plows have to go out again and clear off the roads, a task which takes a long time to complete. The Operations Manager with the Manitowoc Department of Public Infrastructure Chad Schenoha was on WOMT’S Be My Guest program recently and he explained how they classify which roads get done first.
These roads run about 90 miles, but as Chad explains, it’s not as simple as driving 90 miles.
As for the remaining two road classifications…
The City of Manitowoc has a total of 28 plows to clear off the extensive series of streets and parking areas, with the number deployed depending on the amount of snow on the ground. It was also noted that if snow falls all day, the priority three roads may not be taken care of for quite some time, as the main roads have a higher priority.
