A Racine County Sheriff’s deputy and Racine firefighters and rescue personnel were able to pull a 15-year-old boy out of Lake Michigan Wednesday night. The teenager had fallen through the ice near Racine’s North Pier. Witnesses say he was fighting to stay afloat while trying to swim to shore, but strong waves were pushing him out into the lake. His name hasn’t been released, but he is reported to be in stable condition at a Racine hospital. The boy and a friend were walking on the icy shore when the ice gave way.
