The Sheboygan Fire Department was called to the area of the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue just before 3:00 yesterday afternoon on a report of a natural gas smell. Fire units quickly arrived on scene, and found a large amount of natural gas coming from a boring hole in front of CA Flipse & Sons Wholesale. The building was evacuated and Wisconsin Public Service was called. WPS shut off the gas main, affecting around 300 homes in the process. Power was also cut to the CA Flipse & Sons building. The area of the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue was closed off as crews worked to fix the issue. There were no firefighter or civilian injures.
