
The Manitowoc Lincoln Boys High School Basketball team used a 48 point second half and a huge night by sophomore guard Mason Dopirak to rally for a 71-61 victory over visiting Ashwaubenon. The Jaguars used a 14-nothing run at the end of the first half to hold a 30-23 advantage, going into intermission. But, the Ships put together a 16-2 run about midway thru the 2nd half to grab the lead for good. Dopirak scored a career-high 40 points, including 32 in the second half. The resourceful backcourt player nailed 4 three’s, 5 two’s and was 18-19 from the free throw line, to exceed his previous high of 35, earlier this season. Mason of having-the-trust of his teammates.
Dopirak had help in the scoring column too. Josh Hoffman tallied 16-points & freshman Gage Cornell came off the bench to contribute a season-best 12. Josh on how it feels to bounce back from 7 down at the break.
Lincoln, now 4-15, 2-13 in the FRCC had lost to the Jaguars in Ashwaubenon 52-43, in early January. The Jaguars (6-13, 4-12) received 19 points from Christopher Morgan. Coach Thadd Cornell and company return to action at the JFK Fieldhouse tomorrow night when they host Notre Dame Academy on Senior Night.
