For some people, fate seems to bring them to where they are meant to be. That appears to be the case with Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig, who, during an appearance on WOMT 1240 AM’s “Be My Guest Program” told us that he predicted his current position when he was a freshman in High School.
Hartwig replaced the now-retired Rob Herman and praised the work the former Sheriff did for the Department and the county.
The first thing the new Sheriff decided to improve was the Sheriff’s Department’s engagement on social media.
If you wish to follow the Sheriff’s Department on Facebook, just search for Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office. A major problem that is plaguing not only the Sheriff’s Department but law enforcement agencies around the state is the number of people applying to fill officer positions.
One way Hartwig is attempting to fix this issue is by using his part-time teacher status at Lakeshore Technical College to attempt to interest students into working for him at the Department. Hartwig earned his position as Sheriff after he was the only person to run for the position back in November.
