Representatives Paul Tittl of Manitowoc and Terry Katsma of Oostburg were among the 61 members of the Assembly that voted in favor of a middle class tax cut bill. Rep. Tittl says that the Bill, which passed 61-33, will return $350 million to taxpayers. The median income family will see a 10.5% reduction in its tax liability, and as a result, a family will pay $310 less in state income taxes, with 75% of the total benefit felt by filers making between $30,000 and $100,000. Rep. Katsma was very happy with the bill saying, “While it is good to see that Governor Evers agrees that income taxes should be cut for those in the middle class, this cut will not come at the expense of Wisconsin’s manufacturers and farmers.”
