A 25-year-old male caregiver is in custody on alleged child abuse in Sheboygan. Police responded to Memorial Hospital last Friday after receiving a report of a 35-month old girl being treated in the Emergency room for substantial injuries consistent with abuse. An investigation revealed that the accused was in a relationship with the victim’s mother and was caring for the child at his residence. He transported the unresponsive child to the local hospital where she was then flown to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin via Flight for Life where the victim was diagnosed with severe life-threatening injuries as the result of blunt force trauma consistent with abuse. The child remains in intensive care while the suspect is being held on a probation hold with charges referred to the District Attorney’s Office to include Felony physical abuse of a child and possession of marijuana. The Sheboygan County Department of Social Services is assisting in the investigation.
