Some major honors to announce today for the Manitowoc Lincoln Girls Gymnastics team. Athletic Director Dave Steavpack says Ships senior Brynn Tackett has been named District 4 Gymnast of the Year while Jacque Bartow is District Coach-of-the-Year. Tackett and Coach Bartow will be recognized on February 28th at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids during the WHSGA Awards Banquet. Tackett has been on the Lincoln High School varsity team all four years and was voted All-State last winter. Bartow is in her 23rd year as Ships Coach, and both are now eligible for consideration as Wisconsin State Gymnast and Coach of the Year.
Following a meet, over the weekend Brynn has broken the all-time varsity career points record in Manitowoc previously held by Sarah Oxton from 2005 to 2009. Tackett is now at 1,619.9 points, or 7-points better than Sarah’s mark. The Ships placed 6th out of 8 upper division schools at the Whitefish Bay Invite, Saturday. Tackett set a new school record on bars with a 9.5, while placing 2nd in the event. On Friday Manitowoc defeated Kaukauna 113-103 in a weather makeup and their last conference dual meet. Jenna Miller was first in the all-around, Hailey Granger won the vault and Lea Miller finished 1st on bars. Lincoln now competes in the Conference meet at Sheboygan South on Friday.
