The Confederate flag or any display of it is now banned on Tomah school grounds in western Wisconsin. The school board voted unanimously Monday night to ban the wearing or display of the flag on campus. School officials say there were several incidents at the high school over Confederate flag t-shirts that led to verbal and physical altercations. Opponents of the ban claim the school doesn’t have authority to limit a student’s free speech. The neighboring Sparta School District in Monroe County also banned Confederate flags on school property.
