All three defendants charged in the death of a Town of Newton boy last spring appeared for bail hearings today in Manitowoc County Circuit Court. Timothy Hauschultz, Tina McKeever-Hauschultz, and 15-year-old Damien Hauschultz all face multiple charges in the death of 7-year-old Ethan Hauschultz. They include first-degree Reckless Homicide and Physical Abuse of a child intentionally causing bodily harm. Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Investigators determined that on April 20th of 2018 Ethan had been performing a punishment ordered by Timothy Hauschultz requiring him to carry a heavy wooden log weighing about two-thirds of his body weight. Investigators say that Damien, Timothy’s son, physically abused the child repeatedly—shoving him to the ground and rolling the log across his chest. In addition, the juvenile male stood on Ethan’s body and head while he was face down in a puddle eventually burying Ethan in the snow. The boy was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. Bail was set at $150 thousand cash for Damien—$100 thousand cash for Timothy and $75 thousand cash for Tina. Conditions include no contact with any witnesses named in the complaint, the victim’s family or anyone under the age of 18. All three remain in the County Jail with initial appearances scheduled for next Monday at 1:30.
