Shawano County Sheriff’s Department Called When Snowmobiles Go Through Ice

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department dive team had to perform two rescues of snowmobilers whose machines broke through thin ice over the weekend.  The incidents happened on Shawano Lake Saturday.  A 52-year-old Illinois man had to be pulled from the water, then later a 39-year-old Appleton man was rescued.  Several agencies — including the Wisconsin State Patrol and the D-N-R — were involved in the rescues.
