Supporters of a plan to wipe clean the criminal records of some offenders say it is the best way to keep them from re-offending. Wisconsin lawmakers are considering legislation on giving some offenders a clean slate after they have served their time. Expungement is only available to non-violent, non-sexual, low-level crimes and currently, it is limited to people under the age of 25. The bill under consideration at the Capitol would remove the age limit and give judges some discretion on when to give a person a clean slate and a better chance to succeed.
