Two Adults and one juvenile are in custody for the death of a 7-year-old boy last April in the Town of Newton. Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says Ethan’s court-appointed guardians Timothy Hauschultz and Tina Mckeever-Hauschultz are confined to the Manitowoc County Jail while Timothy’s 15-year-old son is being held in the Sheboygan County Juvenile Detention Center on numerous charges including First Degree Reckless Homicide and Physical Abuse of a child Intentionally causing bodily harm.
Sheriff’s investigators determined that last April 20th Ethan had been performing a punishment ordered by Mr. Hauschultz which required him to carry a heavy-wooden log weighing approximately two-thirds Ethan’s body weight. Over the course of 60 to 90 minutes, the 15-year-old boy physically abused Ethan—repeatedly shoving him to the ground and rolling the log across the boy’s chest. The investigation also determined that the juvenile male stood on the boy’s body and head while he was face-down in a puddle—eventually burying Ethan in the snow.
The two adults took Ethan to the hospital where he died. The official cause of death was from hypothermia and other blunt-force trauma to his head—chest and abdomen.
