United Way Offers Free Tax Filing Services

Statistics show that 70% of Americans are eligible to file their taxes for free, but most are unaware of a way to do it. United Way does, however, offer a free tax service called MyFreeTaxes. Taxpayers who earned less than $66,000 last year are eligible for the service, and according to Courtney Pelot, the Marketing and Brand Strategy Manager for United Way, using this service can save people an average of $200 in tax preparation fees. You can access the service by going to MyFreeTaxes.com, and file via a mobile device in less than an hour. Filing both federal and state returns is free, whether taxpayers file in multiple states, work freelance or have a side gig, or earn investment income.
