This Polar Vortex hitting the upper Midwest has caused the United States Postal Service to cancel mail delivery in Manitowoc today. Seehafer News spoke late yesterday with Manitowoc Postmaster Gerald Brylski at the local post office about precautions mail carriers take during the cold winter months.
Brylski said they’ll be in contact with the carriers through their scanners.
They’re some fine carriers out there but Brylski said “they’re advised not to be too valiant, and be safe above all else. If we’re unable to deliver in a safe matter we will curtail where we have to.” Homeowners can help mail carriers out as well during the winter. The postmaster says.
Brylski said those at the Post Office are “looking forward to warming temperatures into the ’30s by this weekend.”
