
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Republican lawmakers will both have to use private attorneys in their battle over laws passed during last month’s lame-duck legislative session. Majority Republicans passed measures which weakened the powers of the attorney general and the governor. Attorney General Josh Kaul has told Evers he won’t represent him due to a conflict of interest. Three groups — including the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin — have filed the legal action which says the lame-duck laws were passed improperly.
