A portion of I-43 south of Manitowoc was closed for over three hours today as the result of a weather-related accident involving two semis. Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig tells us that just after 10 am a unit driven by a 44-year-old Milwaukee man was traveling Southbound near Carstens Lake Road when a second semi driven by a 40-year-old male from Kingston New York was following behind when he lost control and slid into the back of the lead semi causing both units to go into the median. Sheriff Hartwig says the interstate was reopened in both directions at 1:20 this afternoon. No one was hurt. Assisting on scene were the Newton Fire Department—Manitowoc Med Unit #3 and Highway 42 garage.
