Eduardo Gamez, one of the two people facing charges for the death of a three-year-old Manitowoc child, pleaded not guilty during his initial hearing late last week. The 48-year-old Gamez and 36-year-old Jamie Shrank were allegedly using meth while babysitting the now-deceased child, as well as a five-year-old they shared. The three-year-old was brought to a local hospital, where the child died, prompting an investigation. Both suspects are facing charges of chronic neglect of a child, possession of methamphetamine, and felony child abuse, while Shrank also faces an additional charge of felony child abuse. Gamez will be back in court on March 8th at 8:30 AM for his settlement conference.
