A southwest Wisconsin man will spend 12 years in federal prison in connection with fentanyl overdose death of a Florida man. The U-S Attorney’s Office says 31-year-old Michael Schoenmann of Spring Green pleaded guilty to distributing a fentanyl nasal spray that resulted in the December 2017 death of Wyatt Cox. The complaint says Schoenmann sent a package to Cox that turned out to be a fentanyl analogue and he died shortly after ingesting the substance. Prosecutors allege Schoemann was running a vendor site on the dark web, advertising and selling fentanyl nasal spray. He apologized to the Cox family at sentencing.
