Two of the top ranked Girls Basketball teams in the state met in non-conference play at Valders Saturday night. Visiting Howards Grove improved to 14-and-1 with a 67-41 win over the Vikings. The Tigers led 35-25 at the half before outscoring the host team 32-16 in the final 18-minutes. Valders, now 12-and-2, got 13 points from Kendra Hammel. Maddy Near poured in 25 points to lead the Tigers and 3 players in double figures. Howards Grove had been ranked #3 in the State Division-4 Coaches Poll while the Vikings entered play rated 7th in D-‘3.
