An environmental group, the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, is backing a plan to get rid of an algae bloom on Lake Winnebago. The alliance wants the lake’s water level to be lowered one-point-two inches this summer. Doing that would delay the filling of the lake by two weeks, but the recreation season could be extended a month to October 1st. The Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance hosted a Thursday public meeting with the U-S Army Corps of Engineers in Appleton. If it is approved, the lake-level change could be made this summer.
