It is finally cold enough for the ice rink in Downtown Manitowoc to be open for public use. The city announced that the rink, which is located in a parking lot in the 700 block of Quay Street, will officially open at 7:00 AM tomorrow, assuming the weather cooperates. There is no cost to use the rink, but those wo wish to do so must have their own skates. Benches and picnic tables around the rink are available for those wishing to rest or change footwear. At times, the rink may be closed for certain periods in order to smooth it over with more water, and signs will be posted when it is closed for this or other reasons. Any additional updates will be posted on Facebook through the City of Manitowoc page.
