A car left a northeast side Manitowoc street last night and crashed into a house. The incident occurred about 6pm in the 900-block of Lawton Terrace. The vehicle driven by a 25-year old Two Rivers man struck the front of the residence, causing significant damage. The occupants of the house were in the living room but were not injured. The driver was said to be under the influence of drugs and was taken into custody at the scene. He faces charges of 2nd degree reckless endangerment, first offense OWI, possession of THC, operating while suspended and will have a charge of abuse of a hazardous substance or inhalants referred to the district attorney’s office. The 25-year old is confined to the Manitowoc County Jail on an OWI Hold. Meanwhile, 3-passengers got out of the car and fled on foot. Authorities have been unable to locate them so far. Police believe that speed was also a factor in the crash that prompted the response of Manitowoc Fire and Rescue personnel. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the Manitowoc Police Department at 686-6551.
