January is National Radon Action Month. Jessica Wanserski, is Environmental- Health Manager for the Manitowoc County Health Department.
Wanserski says (tells Seehafer News) that Radon “comes from trace amounts of natural uranium- and seeps through cracks & openings in the basement & foundation of homes.”
Homes with high levels are found in ‘all’ regions of Wisconsin, including Manitowoc County. The levels can ‘vary greatly within neighborhoods, so everyone should test their home.’ Testing-for radon is easy & inexpensive…short-term test kits are available from the County Health Department for $6.00, including an analysis. To obtain a test-kit, you can stop in at the Health office at 1028 S. 9th Street in Manitowoc, or call….683-4155.
