The Manitowoc Police Department joined forces in a statewide Traffic Safety Enforcement Campaign recently. New MPD Deputy Chief, Jason Freiboth, tells Seehafer News his officers joined in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Holiday Campaign that ran from December 14th through New Year’s Day.
Freiboth explains they logged 151 and a half hours of extra enforcement between their normal hours of service.
The deputy chief also spoke about some other statistics from the extra law enforcement effort to help deter impaired driving.
Freiboth explained that one of the most common violations was for vehicle registration problems, either for not having their vehicle registered or driving while suspended. Meanwhile, in what he termed a pleasant surprise, Freiboth noted there were ‘zero’ citations or warnings for people not wearing their seatbelt.
