The congregation of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers will be part of “Decommission & Dedication Services” this Sunday. Pastor David Arndt tells Seehafer News they’ll be holding a final worship service, beginning at 1 pm, at the old church at 17th & East Park Streets, leading up to the move to their new church building on 45th Street.
Pastor Arndt “likens it to living in a house for 128 years..and then you pick up & move across town in a weekend.”
As part of the decommissioning of the worship space downtown, he says they’ll “thank the Lord for the comfort and guidance of the congregation.”
About special features in the ‘new’ church, Pastor Arndt said, “they’re blessed to have a lot of talented people who attend services there.”
The church leader explains that another member of the congregation “fashioned the exterior cross out of aluminum at work, and they have an artist who created a beautiful plaster relief work built out of the back wall of the church…showing Christ lifting Peter up out of the waves.”
Arndt said following the dedication service on Sunday, they will enjoy fellowship time with refreshments provided.
