Brown County is about to get a big check from the federal government to help convert Highway 29 into a freeway. Highway 29 is an expressway at the moment, which aren’t as safe as freeways, which have on and off ramps. There have been many accidents on the roadway, including one last August, in which a woman died as a result. The villages of Howard and Hobart joined Brown County in the application process, specifically to make the interchange with VV safer. That intersection has been a big talking point for the better part of a year, after a study showed that it was immensely unsafe. The project will cost around $28 million, and will be completed by 2023.
