The 75-year-old Milwaukee man who shot and killed a would-be robber says he was simply defending himself. Henry Bell told television station W-I-T-I Sunday night that he fired his gun at a group of people who were trying to rob him on the day after Christmas, but he wasn’t trying to hit anyone. Milwaukee police say 32-year-old Shaneka Goldsmith died from one of Bell’s bullets. Officers took Bell into custody after the shooting but released him over the weekend. Prosecutors are not saying if they will press charges.
