A simple traffic stop in Manitowoc over the weekend resulted in a woman being arrested for possessing drugs and obstructing an officer. Officers pulled a vehicle over on Saturday just after midnight because the license plate light was not functioning properly. The officer noticed that the 34-year-old woman in the passenger seat was not wearing a seatbelt, so he asked her for identification. The woman refused, but a backup officer recognized her from a previous drug arrest. The woman was asked to leave the vehicle, but she resisted. She did eventually comply, and k9 Major performed a drug scan of the vehicle, coming back hot. A physical search of the vehicle uncovered marijuana, traces of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. The woman was taken to the Manitowoc County Jail and will be facing charges of obstructing an officer and felony bail jumping on top of the drug charges.
