A 22-year-old Green Bay man is dead and two injured including an eight-month-old infant as the result of a single vehicle accident last night in the town of Cooperstown. Manitowoc County Sheriff Deputy Inspector Jason Orth tells Seehafer News that deputies and EMS personnel responded to the crash on I-43 near Devil’s River about 9:40 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 19-year-old woman from Green Bay was traveling northbound on the I when the vehicle entered the median—proceeded through a barrier fence and guardrail and overturned while descending a steep embankment before coming to rest on its wheels just south of the river. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay for “non-life” threatening injuries while the infant—who was in the back seat secured in a rear-facing child restraint system—was also transported to Aurora Bay Care for possible injuries. Both adults were wearing seatbelts. Both northbound lanes of traffic were closed for several hours and reopened about 3:30 this morning. The names of those involved are not being released at this time and the crash remains under investigation.
