There is Holiday Tournament Basketball for some area teams today and tonight. On the Boys side, the Roncalli Jets (at 8-0) will compete today & tomorrow in the W-B-Y Shootout at Concordia University in Mequon. The Jets battle Waukesha Catholic Memorial in a Noon Tipoff. Coach Joe Garceau’s crew is scheduled to meet (Milwaukee) Messmer in the tourney Saturday morning at 9:00. Elsewhere New Holstein will take-on Freedom this afternoon at 1:40 in the Sun-Drop Shootout at Green Bay’s Kress Center. And, Oostburg faces Living Word Lutheran tonight at 8:15…in their own holiday tournament.
In ‘Girls’ Basketball it’s day 1 of the “Big East/E-W-C Challenge”: Reedsville goes up against Two Rivers this afternoon at 4:00 o’clock then Tonight at 7:15, it’s Manitowoc Lutheran & Roncalli. Both of those varsity contests are being played at Lutheran High School. The Jets & Lancers will be aired on AM 980 WCUB, with a 7:05 airtime. An associated event called, “Cheesin’ for a Reason”, will occur during the Lutheran/Roncalli game. The purpose is to collect dental supplies for donation to Peter’s Pantry. Toothpaste, floss, mouthwash and toothbrushes are being collected. And, everyone that purchased a t-shirt should wear it to the game. The Manitowoc Lincoln Girls basketball team has a non-conference home game against Menasha…this evening. Tipoff time at JFK Fieldhouse is set for 5:30. Lastly Kiel opposes Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah at 7:00 as part of the Kiel Holiday Tournament.
