
The majority leader of the Wisconsin Senate says he doesn’t support the idea of taking 180-million dollars from the federal government to expand Medicaid, but he won’t rule it out. Fitzgerald made the surprising comment after meeting privately with Governor-elect Tony Evers Thursday. Taking the money would expand coverage to an additional 75-thousand people. Thirty-five states are taking the federal funding and three others saw voters approve Medicaid expansion in last month’s election. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is a firm opponent.
