A settlement conference for a 36-year-old Manitowoc woman charged in the death of a three year old child this summer has been delayed until next month. Manitowoc County District Attorney Jaclyn LaBre tells Seehafer News that Jamie Schrank’s settlement conference has been rescheduled for January 28th. No specific reason was given. Schrank, along with 48-year-old Eduardo Gamez of Manitowoc, was caring for the child July 28th when police responded to a local hospital for the call of a child suffering from severe external and internal injuries who died later that evening. Both defendants are charged with felony-child abuse causing death, chronic neglect of a child and possession of methamphetamine. Schrank remains in the County Jail on a $350,000 cash bond while Gamez remains held on a quarter million dollars cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 10th.
