Faulty venting of a wood stove was deemed to be the cause of a fire in a Green Bay garage yesterday morning. Crews were called to Harvey Street at around 6:00 AM, when the blaze erupted in the detached garage. When firefighters arrived, they found the fire was on the back wall of the large unit, and were able to quickly enter and quell the flames. While there weren’t any injuries reported, the rear wall and roof sustained damage estimated to be around $10,000 worth. The GBMFD is reminding people to always use extreme caution when operating open flame heating devices, and be sure to maintain them properly.
