Roncalli High School President John Stelzer was a member of the 2018 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame class at Wisconsin Dells earlier this Fall. The former long time Girls Basketball Coach of the Jets said, it’s an honor that’s shared with all those who played in the program, coached with him and the school that supports him.
Stelzer said “it was fun being among all the basketball people” at the banquet.
Four of the young ladies inducted as players were athletes Stelzer had coached, either against, or at camp.
John Stelzer spent 24-years as Roncalli Girls Basketball coach, compiling a record of 398 and 189. His teams won 6 conference titles, made 6 appearances in the former WISAA State Tournament and advanced to the Sectional Finals 3 times as a member of the W-I-A-A. This past year, John was proud to assist the Roncalli Boys basketball team as they won their first WIAA State championship.
