Today we are celebrating the lives of those lost during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The attack by the Japanese on the American Naval base in Hawaii not only killed 2,403 Americans, and sunk multiple ships, but also changed the course of history. According to Manitowoc County Veterans Service Officer Todd Brehmer during a visit to WOMT’s Be My Guest proram, the attack changed the mindset of the nation.
Most people know of the two waves that bombed and gunned down the base, but one part of the attack that has been overlooked over the years is the fact that there was a third wave planned to take place, but the Japanese Admirals decided against it.
We salute the brave men and women that were on the ground that day, and all those who fought in WWII immediately following the day which will live in infamy. Your service to our country will not be forgotten.
