The Manitowoc Police Department’s K9 Unit has been making headlines over the past few days. K9 Major has played a huge part in both a drug bust on Tuesday, and capturing a fleeing suspect after a high speed chase early Thursday morning. Seehafer News was able to speak with Police Chief Nick Reimer about the attention grabbing pup.
Reimer went into detail about how K9 Major helped during the drug bust.
While K9 Major and K9 Neko are both very good at sniffing out drugs, they do very rarely come up with a false positive. Even when they do, it is not usually completely false.
The K9’s do eventually have to retire, and when they do, Chief Reimer told us they go to a kennel to pick out the next puppy to train.
Both K9 Major and K9 Neko and their handlers tend to work the late night shifts, but according to Chief Reimer are available at a moment’s notice.
