Officials at U-W Health in Madison speculate a recent change to the hospital’s hot water system may have exposed patients to bacteria. Four tested positive for Legionnaires’ disease, a type of pneumonia. The hospital has flushed hot water lines in the building to get rid of any remaining bacteria and patients and staff have been notified about the problem. The patients are being treated for the condition.
