The Marquette women’s basketball team held-off a furious 4th quarter rally last night to defeat Milwaukee 83-74 at the Klotsche Center. The 22nd ranked Golden Eagles led by as many as 22 points early in the third quarter, before the host Panthers narrowed the gap to 7 late in the 4th but Marquette was able to prevail. Milwaukee out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 39-34 & shot a season best 48% from the floor, including 9 of 14 in that 4th quarter. Allazia Blockton paced four Marquette players in double figures with 28 points, while former Green Bay Southwest athlete, Natisha Heideman chipped in 17. Freshman Sydney Levy poured in a game & career high 19 points for the Panthers. Alyssa Fischer of Newtonburg & Manitowoc Lincoln High School nailed a three in her only shot attempt and pulled down 2 rebounds in a reserve role. Marquette improves to 5-1, while Milwaukee drops to 2-5.
