A Beloit man has made his first Rock County Circuit Court appearance on charges of first-degree intentional homicide after a fatal shooting last week. Twenty-year-old Ezequiel Acosta told investigators he thought the man he killed was trying to break into his house. Forty-nine-year-old Jose Reyes was rushed to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead. Acosta was found hiding in his backyard. Reyes was unarmed and he hadn’t threatened or attacked Acosta.
